Another Bug, Buddy's Room and MADNESS!

Yesterday morning another bug struck the Herr house. This time it came after Justin ... the day after his birthday he got bit! We're thinking that this must've been a different bug since it had been over a week since Hailey was sick. But anyway, yesterday morning our little guy was not doing so great. He was pretty much laid up all day on the sofa or in bed. By early afternoon his stomach was empty, but he wasn't even able to keep liquids down until later in the day. It was really sad ... he kept crying for his cup of water and I was trying to explain that it wouldn't make his belly feel good, but he didn't care what I was telling him, all he wanted was his cup. Thankfully later in the day he was able to keep fluids down. Although it took Justin a few hours to settle down for the night, we were able to get a decent amount of sleep so we were thankful that the worst of it happened during the day (plus it was a great way for me to grow in my compassion for my kiddos!). He was drinking a lot during the night, and woke up this morning doing much better. His energy level wasn't back to normal earlier in the day, and he slept a lot ... but all in all he's doing much better and tonight he was laughing and playing like his old self before bed! Since this was the first time Justin has ever been sick (in that way) I discovered that he is quite high maintenance ... you know how some people like to just be left alone when they are sick ... well not Justin. If I wasn't holding him, rubbing his back or head or at the least in the same room as him, he was not a very happy little boy. Even when he was feeling better he was milking it for all it was worth. He'd give me his puppy dog face and ask me to please hold him. So we had some nice bonding time (how can I resist Buddy's puppy dog face). We're very thankful that these times have lasted less than 24 hours.

As of tonight Justin's room is completely painted! It's nice to be done with that little project, now I just need to do some finishing touches like hanging the shelves and other things on the walls, getting his bed together and maybe painting the trim if I get another painting urge! This picture gives an idea to what the walls look like ...

Brian and I are enjoying the season of March Madness. We've filled out our brackets and will be enjoying college basketball for the next few weeks! Since we've gotten married Brian has yet to beat me in our bracket challenge, but we'll see what happens this year!

As I've been feeling a bit exhausted and run down over the past couple of weeks, my soul was fed this morning when I read these words from Spurgeon ...

Christ has grace without measure in Himself, but He has not retained it for Himself. As the reservoir empties itself into the pipes, so has Christ emptied out His grace for His people. "From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another." He seems only to have in order to dispense to us. He stands like the fountain, always flowing, but only running in order to supply the empty pitchers and the thirsty lips which draw close to it. Like a tree, He bears sweet fruit, not to hang on boughs, but to be gathered by those who need. Grace, whether its work be to pardon, to purify, to preserve, to strengthen, to enlighten, to quicken, or to restore, is always to be had from him freely and without price; nor is there one form of the work of grace which He has not given upon His people. As we daily receive grace from Jesus, and more constantly recognize it as coming from Him, we shall behold Him in communion with us, and enjoy the felicity of communion with him. Let's make daily use of our riches, and always have recourse to Him as to our own Lord in covenant, taking from him the supply of all we need with as much boldness as taking money out of our wallets.
