Random Happenings

Over this past weekend Brian began building the kiddos a sandbox. It is rather large! We got the perimeter built, and are now working on the deck for the bottom. We still have to stain it and fill in the cracks before we fill it with sand. It's about 8' x 10.5' and will require 3 tons of sand to fill! Brian had all of the treated lumber in the backyard for awhile because a guy from work was tearing out his old deck so Brian got the lumber from him, and finally got around to putting it to good use! The kiddos are quite excited for it to have sand in it so they can play. We're hoping to finish up the project this weekend!

As you can see from the picture, Justin was having fun using Sydney as his paper the other day. Thankfully, they were washable markers! That is why we try and keep all sharpie markers out of reach ... especially after the incident when Justin colored our living room hardwood floors! It washed right off of Sydney without a problem. As the picture also shows, Sydney's favorite new toy is the phone. She will climb and get the phone, then push as many buttons as possible before I find her!

Yesterday Hailey came and told me that she changed Sydney's diaper for me when she woke up! That's my girl, always looking to be a helper! I was actually pretty impressed with her first diaper job ... the diaper was actually staying up on Sydney and was pretty tight ... although there were some flaps hanging out looking a little funny ...

This week is rather busy because our church is having vacation bible school. Brian took 1/2 days again so that we could serve as head of recreation, so we are having a blast with the kids! We've had beautiful weather this year, and have been able to stay outside (last year was too hot), so we've been enjoying that. Hailey is participating with the kindergarten class and is loving it ... they have class time, recreation time and art time ... and as well some times of worship. Justin and Sydney get to hang out in the nursery and are also having lots of fun with all the girls from church helping out.

In the evenings we've been supporting our church softball team, who squeezed into the playoffs (they were the last seed), and have been on a great winning streak and will now be playing for the championship later in the week on Thursday night! Both last night and tonight they won in 5 innings (they typically play 7) because they were up by over 15 runs!
